AlphaSmart makes the Dana, which is a laptop alternative for students that runs Palm OS. It has a wide display and a full keyboard. The Dana features an infrared beam, two SD/MMC expansion slots, a rechargeable battery and a USB HotSync cable. Graffiti can also be used directly on the screen and a lot of bonus software is included. The Dana costs around $400. There is a new 802.11 Dana Wireless version that boosts RAM to 16 MB.
