Hi
I purchased a Tungsten E2 a month back and despite being a long term Palm Fan, feel really dissapointed with this model. I am a Sales Rep and use my Palm heavily each day. The E2 has two problems. The first is that the built in 'Find' or Search function doesn't work properly. This is not a problem with my machine, its a software bug (although Palm One wont admit it) When you search Contacts, Tasks, Calendar or any of the built in applications, Search will bring up a screen full of data, with a cancel or find more button at the bottom of the screen. When you tap 'find more' it doesnt find more, it just brings up the previous screen full of data. Palms answer? Go and spend fifty bucks extra on a third party application such as Intelligent Find! Why should anyone who has just purchased a new Palm HAVE to go and spend extra money, when every other Palm ever made, can do what the E2 cant, right out of the box.
The other problem is the Calculator. In basic mode it cant work out percentages. Dont believe me. try it. Type in 150 x 20%= or 150 -20 %= and see what answer you get.
Looks like the Palm caculator failed its high school maths test. Yes you can download some free Calculator programs, but why should you have too??
I'm really thinking about returning my E2, and finally making the switch to Pocket PC.
The E2 a 'business' Palm??? I dont think so.

Sorry you are having such problems with the T|E2. So Palm acknowledges these bugs and says they won't fix them? The T|E2 is pretty new, so perhaps they are working on a patch.

Just bought mine this week, and the search works fine. Only problem I had was old applications that was making it crash, so I had hard reset and start over again.

i read jbarab's post the night before i was supposed to return my E2 to the store to get a refund; so, i figured, what the heck, i'll give it a try.
so, i went to the store & exchanged my old E2 for a new E2. i got home, charged it for 30mins, then entered 10 duplicate contacts. i did a "find more", and voila!
the same problem.
so tonight i returned the E2 & got a full refund.
my next move is to wait for the newer model of the T5 so that they'll drop the price of the T5 - then that's what i'm going to buy.
in the meantime, i'm going to use my windows 2002-enabled smartphone for my contacts & calendar reqts. if palm takes too long to come out w/ the replacement of the T5, they may very well lose an 8-year old PalmOS user to Windows PPC.
